Case in point. The majority of current 05 McLean ECNL players were not developed in McLean. So to suggest that carpools and friendships from u9-12 soccer should dictate where to play at u13 is just ridiculous.  It will be interesting to see if the same thing happens with the 06s.  Mass exodus from Mclean to
other clubs and then backfilled with a new set of players.  Arlington and Spirit are the primary benefactors of the defections from McLean.  Loudoun players now have alternative (closer) choices to home (ECNL or FCV DA).  Mclean will continue to struggle.[/quote]

How do you define "better" when they play completely different teams?  And as is always said on this board, clubs in any league/group can be better/worse than their records indicate -- particularly those who play in lots of close games. At the ECNL/DA level, coaches do use games to test out new formations, try a player in a new position, etc. Those changes are good for long term club performance but not for short term.  So McLean (or Spirit) could be better than the record shows....[/quote]
