Are you not reading the posts in this thread? There have been a few examples, that keep getting repeated, where it has been explained that even when an obese person purchases two seats, the airline takes it back because they “overbooked”.

I 100% agree that if you cannot fit into your seat that you must purchase a second seat. And people who have not purchased the seat, should not be able to board without securing the extra seat. Assessing someone’s ability to sit in the seat can be done at check-in or in the boarding area. But the airlines cannot then take it back. Until that practice stops - buying an extra seat doesn’t solve the problem.

And while this person was horrible, it is the airline’s fault for allowing this couple to board without an extra seat. There is zero way any airline employee missed or underestimated the size of the couple.[/quote]
