This was idiotic of her. I did some math today and option C takes 2142 students. Coates, Fox Mill, McNair, Crossfield, and Oak Hill, and the Navy Island! All but 20 or so Floris students. If they took those in, and I may be inaccurate, the school would be well balanced and below 2200, per what I calculated. For the school board to flaunt a new high school and get kids excited, but then walk their words back is one of the most glaring examples of manipulation I have seen from them. As a father to 2 beautiful daughters and a handsome son, we must do our jobs to call their words and actions into question.
That's 2142 students for a building with 2000+ capacity. Foolish especially since Floris's Discovery Square is not included for Western in Options C and D. Options A and B include it - 1005 from Westfield v 940 so is it 65 from Discovery Square? Carson hold 1365 so pre TJ outs thats 2730 for a HS. Assume all MS get AAP-no more double buses. At 100% Carson has 365 seats for more than its pyramid HS so what goes there? Herndon feeder as a base school so it's a split? Herndon MS is the opposite-too small for the HS and to hold all it's AAP.
Wellllll, Carson is an AAP Center, so take out a few hundred from Navy and Waples that will go to Oakton. Then take out either Fox Mill or Crossfield, one of whom will stay at their current high school. Bring in Oak Hill, about 1/3 of which already go to Carson for AAP. That's less than 1000 kids for two grades.
