I did some math today and option C takes 2142 students.
Coates, Fox Mill, McNair, Crossfield, and Oak Hill, and the Navy Island!
All but 20 or so Floris students.
If they took those in, and I may be inaccurate, the school would be well balanced and below 2200, per what I calculated.
For the school board to flaunt a new high school and get kids excited, but then walk their words back is one of the most glaring examples of manipulation I have seen from them.
As a father to 2 beautiful daughters and a handsome son, we must do our jobs to call their words and actions into question.
That's 2142 students for a building with 2000+ capacity. Foolish especially since Floris's Discovery Square is not included for Western in Options C and D. Options A and B include it - 1005 from Westfield v 940 so is it 65 from Discovery Square?
Carson hold 1365 so pre TJ outs thats 2730 for a HS. Assume all MS get AAP-no more double buses. At 100% Carson has 365 seats for more than its pyramid HS so what goes there? Herndon feeder as a base school so it's a split? Herndon MS is the opposite-too small for the HS and to hold all it's AAP.

Once they refab the building and make it theirs, maybe find a way to make more capacity, they need to take all of Coates that fed to Westfield, take all of Crossfield, all of Floris, all of Fox Mill, All of McNair, and all of Oak Hill.
Knowing FCPS, they’ll find a way to squeeze kids into that building.
It’s their obsession.
I still think they should send McNair to Herndon so they can fit Oak Hill, Crossfield, Fox Mill, McNair, and Floris into Western. Herndon is under capacity!
McNair would be an attendance island at Herndon, assuming the Westfield part of Coates goes to Western. They are saving Herndon to take part of Langley in 2031.
Even at this late hour, still trying to make fetch happen. Such a loser.

If McNair is zoned for Herndon, that makes an attendance island.
Herndon should not be impacted in any way possible.
Only South Lakes, Westfield, Centreville, Chantilly, and Oakton should be impacted, but not Herndon.
I am not a Langley parent, but a Westfield parent and this makes no sense to me.

Now, now. You have years to plot your escape, but that's their plan.
It is not their plan. I agree that steps need to be taken to guard against it. But growth in Herndon is going to make it a lot tougher to move families six years from now. The justification won’t be there, especially if they make each middle school level IV.
The flip side is that growth in Tysons is going to make a lot tougher not to move families six years from now.
The thing that matters is Herndon growth because the only reason they could attempt to move part of Langley is because of under utilization in Herndon. Langley isn’t overcapacity and I’d projected to lose a ton of students over the next few years as their elementary school feeders are collectively down a lot of students.
It’ll be some time before Langley gets to critical numbers, if it ever does.
I get that it’s a lot of people’s wet dream to get that move done, but the numbers aren’t going to trend in that direction, at least in the next decade.
LOL! GFCA has made it clear that no one else is to be redistricted into Langley after the move of Spring Hill--which puts Langley slightly over capacity.
