If it was up to JD Vance, I wouldn't have a family because of IVF. Walz: “Democrats are investing in prenatal care. We're the ones that are for universal pre-K. We're the ones that are providing school meals. I'm not gonna back down one bit on this whole family values thing. We're making it more affordable to have children by having paid family and medical leave. Where is JD Vance's program?” Damned straight, Tim. This is why people like him & not the that freak, Vance.
Sounds good on the surface, if you are fine with increased taxes, increased gas and electricity prices, increased crowding of cities and schools. A huge no for many.
I am actually ok with increasing taxes in the short term to pay for a healthier country in the long term. I am a wealthy person who understands the concept of investment- the money we pay now can reap dividends later. Children who are poorly educated and underfed cost a LOT of money pp, they just cost money later when they are unable to find good jobs or their developmental delays from lack of food causes them to have problems adjusting to and being productive members of society. Even parental leave- the first year of a baby’s life is absolutely pivotal to their health, mental well being, and intellectual development for the rest of their lives. The more time babies get to spend with their moms, the smarter and healthier a society we will have.
+1 The Republican alternative is to force women to have babies they can't afford or who will have severe lifetime disabilities and then leave them to figure it out with zero social support. Yeah, that sounds like a great solution for a healthy society. But the billionaires get tax breaks so it's all good, right?
