[/quote] My FIL, from Brooklyn not Queens and about 15 years older than Trump, literally gave my DH a pair of Florsheims almost every year for Christmas, into his 30s. He lived through the Depression and it affected him forever; new shoes during that period were the ultimate sign of doing OK despite everything. So even though I’m programmed to think of this as just nice old outer borough man stuff, I still think Trump doing it is deeply weird.[/quote]
