Are you actually a parent, OP? I ask because if you're a parent, at some point you usually face some actual problem with your kid. We have smart, healthy kids, but at various times in the pas we have had issues like: infertility, miscarriage, a heart defect in one kid, a (thankfully overcome) anxiety problem in another kid. Even if your kid has no problems at all, you go through pre-teen years where you worry about them getting bullied or making the writ friends, having self esteem issues, worry about drugs, etc. so when you get through that and your kid is happy at college and doing well -- whatever school it is -- you are pretty freaking happy about it.
