This place is so out of touch and bourgeois.

Most people don't graduate from any college, period. The majority of those that do tend to graduate from no-name schools that few have heard of out of their city.

Places that most DCUMers look "down" on, like average SEC schools, are actually well above average.

I'm watching my (and two of our kids so far) very average (or worthless according to dcumland) college play football right now. And yes, LSU fans really do smell like corn dogs.

Either you're not a parent, or you're an awful one. What I want for my kids is to be happy and healthy. If that means an average school, that's not them failing to deliver to me "what I wanted". I would sure hate to be your kid.

I think you don't get it. Are you actually a parent, OP? I ask because if you're a parent, at some point you usually face some actual problem with your kid. We have smart, healthy kids, but at various times in the pas we have had issues like: infertility, miscarriage, a heart defect in one kid, a (thankfully overcome) anxiety problem in another kid. Even if your kid has no problems at all, you go through pre-teen years where you worry about them getting bullied or making the writ friends, having self esteem issues, worry about drugs, etc. so when you get through that and your kid is happy at college and doing well -- whatever school it is -- you are pretty freaking happy about it.
