Can someone remind me of the back story of why Joan is pissed at Don and voted to push him out initially in the season finale? I always thought those two had a pretty respectful relationship. But I must be forgetting something...this is what happens when we wait a year between seasons!
I asked the same question. Response from DCUM was that he messed up the potential for an IPO (and lots of money) when he dropped Chevy. Joan had slept with the guy for the business so felt screwed over by Don. I did read one reviewer that said the Joan’s animosity seemed too much and I agree. Harry is going to flip when he finds out how much the partners are going to make from the buy out. I looked up Don's 10% example, in todays money it would be about 9 .8 million.
+1. I was baffled. I've read reviewers who rewatched the previous season to try to make sense of Joan's sudden animosity, and couldn't do so. They, and we (DH and I), felt it was a clumsy and uncharacteristically lame effort on the part of the creator/writers to introduce new tensions. I agree. It doesn't fit with their previous mutual respect and affection. The money wouldn't explain it all.
