I think that one plausible path, though not by any means certain, is to imprison Trump. I suspect they will increase their efforts to do so. But that said, you can see measurable changes in how voters feel about Biden’s ability to protect democracy with each prosecution. Trump and Biden are now dead even on democracy, which used to be a clear advantage to Biden. They haven't actually imprisoned him yet, so we don't know how the electorate would react to that. So, I think the possibility that they will try to "Hail Mary" this and perp walk him into Rikers is quite high.

My gut tells me that it would not go over well at all, but the polls currently indicate reduced voter support for Trump if he is imprisoned. They said that about indictments too, though, and it backfired in practice. But Team Biden needs to look for Hail Marys and this is a possibility, and it is possible it would pay off for them.
