I love Amal Clooney. Her brains, her education, her career, her beauty, her style, her life, her work, her family of origin, her family after marriage, her children, her money, her connections, her fame, her staff... And I also know that people hate non-White women who get high value White men - Amal Clooney Priyanka Chopra Meghan Markel Lauren Sanchez...
Amal Clooney is white.
Is Alexandria Ocasio Cortez white?
Isn't Amal Clooney Lebanese and Druze? Those groups are white. It's not about what color you feel like they should be.
DP but color is very much about what people feel they should be. Concepts of race are ephemeral and evolve over time. Most people don't regard Arab Muslims or Latinos as white. But give it time and they will be as white as Greeks and Italians.
Doubt it especially in the case of Muslims. Muslims and I would say many Arab Christians are like Jews in the sense that even if they are white on the census , they don’t consider themselves white or identity as white because they are religious and or ethnic minorities
Don't doubt it. Many Arabs and Hispanics list themselves as white. White has many meanings-- color isn't a fact, it's a perception-- and in formerly colonized nations there are many definitions of white. Even the Nazis had a category of "honorary whites" like Asians. The Nazis used this term to denote people they included in their definition of white despite some attributes that may argue against their whiteness. The more you travel and read history, the less rigid you'll be about issues of race.
In order to make Jesus white, the Europeans had to consider the Middle East to be white. Not sure about Latinos but with Arabs they put down white because that’s what the US census says to do . Origin from Middle East or North Africa = white . An Israeli and a Palestinian are both white
The Middle East is huge. Israelis and Lebanese people are from the Levant. Levantine people are White and have always been considered such. The Romans and the Greeks never described them as being a different race than themselves. No one described Jesus as anything but White until recently. For some reason he became Black all the sudden. I’ll bet he looked like. Mizrahi Jew, which is White.
What? "White" is a relatively modern concept. Greeks and Romans encountered and interacted with peoples from the Levant, such as Phoenicians, Syrians, Jews, and others, but their descriptions typically focused on cultural, linguistic, and religious differences rather than racial ones. Furthermore, Greek and Latin were the dominant languages of the Mediterranean world, and those who did not speak these languages were often seen as outsiders or foreigners.
