My personal belief is that "evil" is born of trauma. Not excusing evil acts but making sense of them. Sometimes it's an idea you can follow such as ... kid grew up being deprived and abused in multiple ways, grows up to be impulsive and angry, commits escalating crimes from thefts to carjackings, for example. It's not an excuse but you can see how it happened. This one, we have no template for it. She's not like any other abuser I ever read about.
Lots and lots of evil people come from great homes with no trauma. The columbine murderers, Bernie Madoff, Sam Bankman fried, that guy who murdered a family in Connecticut (but not before raping a daughter-- maybe 10 or 11-- in front of the mom). Most people who grew up with trauma do not go on to commit crimes. I don't believe trauma is an excuse at all. And I grew up with trauma. It doesn't make you do anything. If anything, it makes it clear why you shouldn't.
It’s clear that you failed statistics class.
You didn't offer any statistics. You offered a commonly held belief that is not well supported by any current research (esp re pedophilia).
