I went to UVA over a decade ago but otherwise don't have any connections to the area. Never heard of this woman but the fact that I didn't hear of this until DCUM announced it is...telling.
Let's not let this pedo woman escape public disgrace just because her family is trying to buy off the Press. Hope this goes viral on social media.

She worked directly with kids at BBBS. The quote in the article by the Executive Director is inaccurate. I knew her when she worked there; she started in youth programs and then moved to corporate partnerships.

My kids have sleepovers at least monthly but are at an age they know and could tell me if something weird was going on in terms of abuse or inappropriate photography. When kids spend the night here it's usually more than one and they are not engaging with parents much beyond getting fed or told to put electronics away for the night.
Um, I was molested at a sleepover at age 12 by my friends older brother and never told anyone until I was an adult. Even if I had told someone, it would’ve been after it had already happened so the damage was already done. And I come from a close knit family and normally talk to my parents and siblings about all kinds of things. But this is something I suppressed and didn’t discuss for years. And this happened at my good friend’s house my parents knew her family well and I hung out there often.

That is not disturbing to anyone?
Did you read the first paragraph of the OP?
UVA and RVA mean nothing to most of us. You know that, right?

There is no actual treatment for these things. There’s not a magical pill to cure people of things like pedophilia or wanting to harm children. I saw a speaker online during Covid who was a convicted pedophile and he described it as an attraction in the way of how adults with sexual preferences can have a preference for age, hair color, etc.. in a fellow adult and there’s nothing to stop them from being attracted to a person with those features when they feel that attraction. He was explaining how pedophiles re-offend because like other adults that attraction doesn’t just go away with jail time. He was pro-castration fwiw. It never made sense to me until he explained this in a way that makes sense why they re-offend and are always a danger. Your attraction to men with dark hair won’t go away just because you’re jailed for ten years or twenty. When you get out you’ll still be attracted to them. Over time people’s preferences can change but it’s by chance.
That makes me feel sorry for that convicted man—he was probably born that way, and there’s nothing he can do about it.
Nah, I call bullsh*t. They may not be able to help who they are attracted to, but they can certainly not *rape* children. just like we expect anyone else to contain their sexual desires unless in a consensual relationship.
+ I’m attracted to tall guys with beards. Doesn’t mean I have to try to sleep with them all. Most adults keep their urges to themselves.
Some men (maybe women?) rape drunk/unconscious/comatose/disabled adult people, and some would never. Just because you're attracted, doesn't mean one takes action on it. What makes them think a child is fair game? So effed up.
On another note, I have noticed big increase in reports of adult women abusing children, mostly teacher-student, which used to be SO shocking, and now it's becoming regular. In my own high school in the 90s, there were at least 3 different male teachers who had relations with underage girls, and one female teacher who was doing it with a male student from age 14 or such. That's rape.

Sometimes it's an idea you can follow such as ... kid grew up being deprived and abused in multiple ways, grows up to be impulsive and angry, commits escalating crimes from thefts to carjackings, for example. It's not an excuse but you can see how it happened.
This one, we have no template for it. She's not like any other abuser I ever read about.

Lots and lots of evil people come from great homes with no trauma. The columbine murderers, Bernie Madoff, Sam Bankman fried, that guy who murdered a family in Connecticut (but not before raping a daughter-- maybe 10 or 11-- in front of the mom).
Most people who grew up with trauma do not go on to commit crimes.
I don't believe trauma is an excuse at all. And I grew up with trauma. It doesn't make you do anything. If anything, it makes it clear why you shouldn't.

It’s clear that you failed statistics class.
