The difference between Top 20 and Top 25 is not meaningful. In fact, most rankings talk about the Top 25, so it’s a little curious why OP chose to make this thread about the Top 20. My guess is that OP is one of a small number or perhaps THE one who starts these contentious ranking threads. In time, they always devolve into the same arguments: 1) some Ivies are not REAL Ivies; 2) Columbia and Chicago are not as good as other top-rated schools; 3) schools ranked 14-25 are unworthy; 4) UVA is overrated, racist, and unknown outside Virginia; 5) tech-focused schools are going to rise in the rankings at the expense of many others. When you see these themes pounded again and again, they are the same poster. The point of this thread being Top 20 is to exclude UVA as a top school and then to call supporters “boosters and strivers.” These are common code words of this highly repetitive poster. Basically, the ranking threads are troll posts hoping to stir the pot and create animosity towards certain schools. Don’t fall for it.
T20 is typical reference for ranking of schools. T25 is seldom used.
People just naturally think in the multiples of 10. If you look at the colleges list T25 makes much more sense.
No Then why is law school referred to t14? T20 makes sense because that’s the historical cut off before you hit the first publics
Exactly my point. T14 makes sense becasue substantial gap between 14th and 15th, but not much between 13th and 14th. Not much gap between current T20 and schools like Emory Georgetown CMU USC etc. However there's gap between these and other T30 schools like Wake Forest, UF, UCSB, UNC So T25 make much more sense.
Sincere question: what metrics are you using to make this assertion? What data, or subjective program ratings, or ...? For example, this forum taught me about the Poets and Quants site, and within that I learned a lot I didn't know specifically about business programs and ranking methodology (they're as scientific about that process as any endeavor I've seen). I'm also vaguely aware of how performance music programs are evaluated (Julliard, Berklee, etc). So again, explain how to arrived at the conclusion that there's not much difference between a Vanderbilt (#14) and Georgetown (#23), while there is a substantial difference between a Tufts (#29) and a Georgetown (#23)
Schools like Tufts and UVA are solid T30 schools, but not T25 looking at the last several years of history. This is not an exact science but for references. Does T20 ever made sense to you then? Harvard and UCLA are not at the same level either. Just that T25 seems to be better reference point than T20 Check page 13, 06/28/2022 16:18
