Of the suggestions made by Lindsey Burke, most seem doable and sensible, especially * Rejecting CRT-infused pedagogy from spreading further in VA public schools * Eliminating teacher certification requirements and prioritizing a teacher's subject-matter expertise over their fidelity to what gets taught in education coures * Prioritize the hiring of teachers over more administrators and "diversity, equity and inclusion" specialists While she says expanding school choice is most important, more people might be inclined not to give up on our failing public schools if the first three measures were implemented. It's the hard drift to the far-left, large class sizes, and the neglect by school officials to pay attention to basic things like sound planning and facilities management (such a total debacle recently in both APS and FCPS, aided and abetted by corrupt School Boards) that are causing so many to look for alternatives.
+100 Best post I've read on the topic yet.
Bulleted out just like GOP shill. Eliminating certification? WTH? Youngkin has shown us that vouchers are in play. Hopefully public school parents push back.
Thanks for the accolades. I’m the prior PP and was a long-time Democrat. Still support Biden but the local Democrats in NoVa are nuts. Keep calling us GOP shills and we’ll keep exploring other electoral options.
Did you vote for Youngkin?
Yes, but not for Sears, Miyares, or the R running for our VA House seat.
So you voted for Youngkin and you’re pushing GOP talking points. Whether you’re getting paid or not you sound like a shill.
You are obviously a one-dimensional mouthpiece for the Virginia Democrats, so of course anyone exercising independent judgment is a “shill” in your book. Not surprised. It’s the only game your crowd knows how to play.
+100 Thank you. These idiotic LWNJs have been throwing out their crazy opinions and unfounded prognostications of what a Youngkin administration will look like, but the reality is they have NO IDEA. Talk about shills and talking points. The only voucher Youngkin has actually mentioned is the one-time $500/student voucher to help mitigate Covid learning loss (tutors, etc). Nothing else has been formally proposed. They are Chicken Little blowhards whom no one should take seriously. DP
