Parent of multiple kids in the club here - not sure where this statement comes from. Both my kids played in 2 tournaments this fall, which is the same as the vast majority of clubs that get talked about in here.  They're not always the same ones, in part because the beginning of the year the club decided to almost entirely skip the OGBC tournament we've done the past year or two because was early in covid come back and decided to avoid, so later in the season when parents were more comfortable, they played.  Not sure where that connection becomes plays a lot of tournaments, but they're pretty straight forward about it.

As for the other post about firing a coach for losing state cup - I'm not aware of any coaches leaving the organization over the fall/winter, so maybe drop a name of the coach supposedly fired or at least an age group and let's see if that's accurate.  My son is younger so I have less direct perspective on the teenage boys side, although have friends with teenage boys who have loved the MLSNext teams.  In fact, there's been a few new coaches brought in fall, but most of the changes happened 2 years ago.

Like anywhere, your team and the things they choose to do are directly related to their coach as well as the kids and their desire to do other things and the parents desire to support that.  You can see that if you care to look anywhere at the indoor/outdoor leagues and tournaments playing all over the DMV though.  Very few (if any) are doing official club things, but I've seen nearly every team jersey out there over the winter as we go to or from a field.
