OP, I think that is great. I am just wondering why 90 minutes of exercise a day meant signing her up and driving her around to 2 sports. Why can't she bike, play games outside with friends, go to the playground, walk the dog, or walk with parents, etc... I guess I am nervous as I grew up playing all day with friends and now it seems like you need to register your kids for things and take them - to get them to "play or exercise." Is it really this bad. My K student is my oldest and we do playdates, bike and playground, but I am really looking forward to sending her out to play without me soon. We see neighborhood kids playing basketball, street hockey, biking, etc... Is that not a thing anymore in most areas?
I am not OP but when my kid play outside, most of it is pretend play and it is not super active. Some sports are more active than others. Baseball is a lot of standing around and waiting. Soccer is running a lot. Also something to keep in mind is that different sports are working different muscle groups and strengths/balance. They are not interchangeable. Little kids should not just do one sport year round. They should do a variety of things for physical reasons that will help them as they grow. They will be a better athlete when they are teens/college age if they do a variety of sports when they are young and not just focus on one. Most kids' sports are not every day (and they shouldn't be for young kids) so I can see why OP needed two sports and she would also need to fill in with other stuff outside of those to get to 90 min per day. So she was probably doing the things you are thinking of - biking, scootering, roller blading, etc and then also doing two sports. It would still be hard to get to 90 min of active play a day. I can see why OP needed to be focused on that number and that she had to do two sport sign ups to get to that number.
