People of similar socioeconomic status and location tend to gravitate toward the same names- but it has nothing to do with overall popularity.  I have to laugh when somebody says " I know '2', '3', etc. kids with that name.  Both of my son's names (named after their grandfather and great-grandfather, respectively) have been named at some point in this thread.

My own personal experience...firstborn who is 5 I have met ONE other in his entire first 5 years of life.  The second one- I have met maybe 2 or 3 others (1 at preschool in older classroom, and the others at local parks).  The first-born's name is actually his 'nickname'--his 'given-name' hasn't been mentioned.  The second-born--friends from outside of the area have not heard of anyone named that in about 60 years.

I don't think most of the names on this thread are in threat of becoming what happened to "Jennifer'--which I think is a beautiful name anyways.[/quote]
