This whole thing makes me laugh. The anecdotal evidence is astounding. The names people have cited....many aren't in the top 10 ten baby names in the US...much less the top 100. People of similar socioeconomic status and location tend to gravitate toward the same names- but it has nothing to do with overall popularity. I have to laugh when somebody says " I know '2', '3', etc. kids with that name. Both of my son's names (named after their grandfather and great-grandfather, respectively) have been named at some point in this thread. My own personal experience...firstborn who is 5 I have met ONE other in his entire first 5 years of life. The second one- I have met maybe 2 or 3 others (1 at preschool in older classroom, and the others at local parks). The first-born's name is actually his 'nickname'--his 'given-name' hasn't been mentioned. The second-born--friends from outside of the area have not heard of anyone named that in about 60 years. I don't think most of the names on this thread are in threat of becoming what happened to "Jennifer'--which I think is a beautiful name anyways.
