I finally watched this. I’m early 50s and was a big fan of SATC. I liked this much more than I expected. Yes there were some flat moments (I really really missed Samantha- the ladies’ discussions over drinks/meals were just not the same - and Stanny, too- sob!), but I thought the characters aged well and highlighted age appropriate and current issues. I think the 3 lead actresses kept their characters true to their SATC selves while bringing new challenges to them. I liked the new characters, too. I hope this is renewed and I hope that Samantha returns.
+1 just watched the whole season and it's better than I expected.
I was hate watching it at first but it really grew on me.
I'm on Episode 6 now. I watched Ep 1 and 2 and was like, no thank you, but it's getting better the further in you get (that's what she said). The possibility of John Corbett coming back in Season 2 drew me in. Kristin Davis is too one note, but the writers did a good job with Charlotte in this. I found her pretty relatable re: what she was dealing with as a mom. Miranda less so, but Cynthia Nixon is good and a bit more than what she was back in the day. I found the portrayal of her drinking problem unrealistic. I haven't seen the end of the season so can't say what I think of the resolution of her story with Che, but I surprised myself by not hating that storyline. I kind of think Che is a villain in the vein of Big. Also more Sarita Choudhury - in everything. She is wonderful.
I could deal with a Che villain arc and then maybe Miranda could find a nice woman her own age who doesn’t make everyone cringe.
