What an excellent example to show why we must stop race-conscious AA and pay more attention to SES and educational background instead.
Do you think that colleges are unaware of Malia Obama's SES and educational background? Are you under the impression that she will get favorable treatment in the admissions process because of her race? This is actually the worst possible example of the benefits/costs of race-conscious AA. Her race is immaterial. She is the daughter of the POTUS. Her application sits in a pile all by itself.
+ 1. If Malia was wholly unqualified to attend an Ivy League level school she probably wouldn't apply. Her college counselor (and parents) would probably come up with a list of schools that would fit her best. But even if she applied and was rejected from Ivy League/MIT/Stanford it would be a rejection from the best colleges in the US. About 93% of applicants are rejected every year. Not to hate on Jenna but I don't think she was Yale material, she knew it and went to UT Austin and had a great college experience.
She seems like a nice, friendly, plumpish person.
Really?? This isn't right.
