Plenty of usefulness with being bilingual.  French itself is useless though here in the states and in commerce.

Try Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Russian, Farsi, Spanish, etc. before French gets any consideration.[/quote]

Chinese and Spanish may be more useful.  French is certainly a better language for an American student to study than the others.  I could see studying Arabic, but no Farsi.[/quote]

Who knows?  When they are adults they may choose to work for the OECD, UN, ICC or a host of others.  French will make them more marketable for those jobs.  Think outside your McLean bubble.
