Wow, which BOE member mentioned racism with a chuckle after Yang’s vote against was applauded. That’s rich after the nonstop tone policing earlier in the meeting.
It was Montoya. Her claims of racism are rich since she was the loudest voice in favor of closing the only Black-run charter in MCPS: MBLI. She’s a fraud and a hypocrite. She doesn’t care about Black people. She’s just using them as a talking point to stick it to the people who are against the superintendent’s recommendation.
I fully support H.. that said, Montoya should be called out for saying what she did. Just because one doesn't support H doesn't mean they are racist. I mean, I'm sure there are black/brown parents who are against H, too. IMO, Montoya is the racist.
Wring. Those parents should have been escorted out the third time they interrupted Wolff.
? being disruptive is racist? So all the liberals disrupting townhalls and what not are racist?
They were interrupting the black woman over and over. They should have been escorted out after the first reminder. They were using coded racist language in their public testimony, BOE emails and in person interactions with the BOE. Did you hear what Montoya said about how people were eating her in front of her son?
It is important to call out racism but it needs to be specific. E.g. "when you say x, it implies y and makes z kids feel unwelcome". Simply calling people "racist" is not helpful. I didn't hear the whole session but I did hear Wolff talking about how long they spent on the boundary study and how people don't realize that, when in fact the concern is about Option H being introduced quite late in the process. And she knows that. She was just regurgitating talking points. I am someone who thinks they should move Wootton to Crown and I found the way she was talking to be very frustrating and dismissive.
