It was all passed.
Huge win for WJ.
Honestly, this is true
And Quince Orchard. I know the Wootton parents are worried about MCPS decimating a "high-performing school" but this shift now leaves WJ and QO with likely huge improvements to come in rankings and Wootton with a minimal slide back.
Well I’m happy QO finally gets something.

She's on leave from MCPS.... she has to support MCPS if she wants a job to go back to.

It was Montoya.
Her claims of racism are rich since she was the loudest voice in favor of closing the only Black-run charter in MCPS: MBLI.
She’s a fraud and a hypocrite. She doesn’t care about Black people. She’s just using them as a talking point to stick it to the people who are against the superintendent’s recommendation.
I fully support H.. that said, Montoya should be called out for saying what she did. Just because one doesn't support H doesn't mean they are racist. I mean, I'm sure there are black/brown parents who are against H, too.
IMO, Montoya is the racist.
Wring. Those parents should have been escorted out the third time they interrupted Wolff.
? being disruptive is racist? So all the liberals disrupting townhalls and what not are racist?
They were interrupting the black woman over and over. They should have been escorted out after the first reminder. They were using coded racist language in their public testimony, BOE emails and in person interactions with the BOE. Did you hear what Montoya said about how people were eating her in front of her son?
What coded racist language? How is proximity to a school building racist?
It wasn’t just about walking distance. There was a mention of FARMS rates. A lot of talk about what their occupation was and acting like they either knew more than the BOE or that they were entitled to more from MCPS because they were scientists. People also used language in emails like segregation, bussing and redlining. Montoya addressed this today.
In earlier meetings these racist and classist comments were addressed after Farmland testimony.
You can’t cry about the state of your building and then complain when you’re given a brand new one 15 minutes away UNLESS you’re really complaining about WHO you would have to share the school with. We aren’t stupid!

Reduced enrollment equals less teachers. Less teachers equals less course options. Less course options equal lower levels not higher

Stop using the word rich like that! Montoya and Wolff’s comments were totally accurate. There is a reason the current programs are overwhelmingly white and Asian students. The actual RICH parents whining about FARMS rates, building utilization, and how heartbroken they are that they bought a home walking distance from a supposed quality schooo need to STFU. As Wolff said, this dont about YOU. It’s about what’s good for ALL students. And if you keep putting down and leaving out the black and brown kids, we will call you out on it!
I didn’t hear anything about how MCPS is changing its admissions process to ensure more Black and Hispanic kids to the new regional programs. So how is the new model going to ensure more Black and Brown kids get admitted and enrolled?

Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:At least they put “school consolidation “ in the name for the elementary boundary study. So no one can say they were surprised when it happens this time.
There are specific requirements in the state laws and regulations governing what's required when closing a school.
So, they need to check all those boxes in this next round of boundary studies, since they'll be actually closing schools.
They did AND they are not closing a school. They are relocating a school to brand new building.

How is that a win for WJ??? im in this cluster. My 8th grader was accepted into Blair. My younger kid will not have such an opportunity. I was very against this.
Want your kid to go to Blair? Simple, move.
I cam say the same - move if you want to be at a W school.
They just created super borders that will limit students choices. I think Inwill be alright being in WJ region as Wheaton will rise even more. Blair? Who is going to apply and be accepted there?
The only W school I'd want to be at is Wheaton. I don't want to be at a W school, I just want my kids to have the same opportunities as yours do.
Anonymous wrote:So relieved I get WJ!!
Woodward is going to be a bad arts school!!!! BOE got what it wanted too. It will be majority-minority school. Sorry people of Farmland. LOL!!! I bet you wish you still had over crowded WJ!!!

And Whitman.
And Churchill.
And B-CC.
WJ did not win. They will lost even more teachers than they already are with reduced enrollment. Their FARMS is projected be high in the next 10 years due to the outmigration patterns in the county and the type of development happening.
Honestly, is anyone surprised who gets the white glove treatment?
