The FAA policies require listening to stakeholder feedback. RM parent wants it ignored. In addition, they state "The Board has the discretion to adopt minor modifications to the superintendent of schools' recommendation(s)..." Emphasis on minor. I would call what Farmland suggests, a musical chairs between WW, VM, GP and others, as major, and inconsistent with FAA policies.
+1 This clearly isn't minor. They want a major change too late in the game that affects real families, like mine in VM.
It may not be minor for lets say GP families or Farmland families, but it's minor in big scheme of things. BOE will be adjusting tons of boundaries and making tons of changes with final approval. This is very small part and if it makes it better then they should do it. That's their job.
DP. I would be very surprised if the BOE makes "tons of changes with final approval." They have shown time and time again that they do not operate independently of Taylor And MCPS. I fully expect them to rubber stamp Taylor's recommendation.
BOE shouldn't be makign tons of changes anyway. They should be makign small changes like balancing FARMS by swapping two ES between WJ and Woodward. Put GP in Woodward and put VM in WJ as long as it does not create capacity issue. But then they have kept Churchill over crowded in new recommmendation becasue families wanted to stay in churchill. So you never know, they may just rubber stamp it. It will be interesting to see if BOE does their job or simply rubber stamp it.
