WW and VM should come together to support the Superintendent. It is in our favor.

Emphasis on minor. I would call what Farmland suggests, a musical chairs between WW, VM, GP and others, as major, and inconsistent with FAA policies.
+1 This clearly isn't minor. They want a major change too late in the game that affects real families, like mine in VM.
It may not be minor for lets say GP families or Farmland families, but it's minor in big scheme of things. BOE will be adjusting tons of boundaries and making tons of changes with final approval. This is very small part and if it makes it better then they should do it. That's their job.
DP. I would be very surprised if the BOE makes "tons of changes with final approval." They have shown time and time again that they do not operate independently of Taylor And MCPS. I fully expect them to rubber stamp Taylor's recommendation.
BOE shouldn't be makign tons of changes anyway. They should be makign small changes like balancing FARMS by swapping two ES between WJ and Woodward. Put GP in Woodward and put VM in WJ as long as it does not create capacity issue. But then they have kept Churchill over crowded in new recommmendation becasue families wanted to stay in churchill. So you never know, they may just rubber stamp it.
It will be interesting to see if BOE does their job or simply rubber stamp it.
Those are not small changes. Those are HUGE. Their lawyers wouldn't let them do that as it would be arbitrary.
Nah, its as minor as it gets due to virtunally no impact on other HS and it's limited to to simply 2 ES swapping HS.
BOE had made changes to Super reocmmendation in past while deciding boundaries. That's their job.
It's not 2. it's 3. Major. WW, VM, GP. The Farmland manifesto wants to rope in the white kids from GP too

Nah, BOE should listen to all stakeholder, but not turn it into popularity contest. That's a horrible way to make any decision which will last in our region for decades.
BOE should hear the reasoning. Communities should provide reasons. That's the way decisions should be made.

Oh, I misundertood your reply. I meant that with final approval version, BOE will be making lots of changes from the current boundary as it exists right now. BOE should surely not make tons of changes. It's not even possible. They should make minor changes if it makes boundary better. I see swapping two ES between two high school as minor changes. It's not impacting all other boundaries.

Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote: Woodward will never be academically rigorous and shifting 10% farms won't make it so.
With any option, Woodward will be less rigorous than WJ, but why make it even worse by concentrating FARMS in Woodward. It helps no one.
the concentration of FARMS is at Wheaton and Kennedy in that region. Woodward will be a wealthy school under Superintendent recommendation.
Under no scenario, Wheaton and Kennedy distribution is changing. Discussion is about
Woodward - WJ
Difference of 5% FARMS will balance it far better than difference of 25% when two schools are nedxt to each other.
real diversity is a minority-majority school. that's what make kennedy, wheaton and future woodward so great. farmland families should try to scratch and claw into WJ if they miss it so much.
