I find the good test is "how would I feel if the parties were reversed?" And the PP needs to think about that. R's have the majority and if they want a deal, then reach across the aisle and find some common ground. Ditch the rhetoric. Act like leaders for a change.

Right and the GOP doesn't really want to do this. They do know that future Congresses may be Democratic and blowing up the filibuster may come back to bite them, even as soon as 26 (I know, it's a tall order but ....). Just like the reconciliation gimmick. I know it will cause a lot of pain but Dems can in fact say that they gave it the ol' college try and let the Rs own this mess with higher premiums etc. RIFs are entirely a sideshow.
