This completely screws GOP senators? What are they thinking? Do they really not care about their livelihoods? The livelihoods of their children? Truly mind boggling.
It’s not being reported on Fox News, so GOP senators are not being inundated by their Republican constituents. If a Democrat contacts them, they will just think they are paranoid.
Apparently Bessent (the new treasury secretary) approved of Musk's access to the treasury. Which is probably why they see it is legal and will be treated as legal until courts declare otherwise. I'd also like to point out that MSNBC/CNN routinely do not cover live Trump press conferences or interviews or certain topics when Trump is talking, so you can't accuse Fox for being selective without being hypocritical.
Bessent does not have the authority to give Musk access to these accounts. Musk isn’t a federal govt employee. Musk doesn’t have any clearances, much less the type of top level one necessary for this access. Trying to gain access to the Federal Treasury without Congressional Approval is committing acts against the Constitution and against the people of the U.S. Such actions and violations are punishable crimes: -Misuse of Public Funds (31 U.S. Code § 1301) -Computer Fraud and Abuse Act (CFAA) (18 U.S. Code § 1030) -Breach of National Security (18 U.S. Code § 798) -The Anti-Deficiency Act (31 U.S. Code §§ 1341-1342) MUSK MUST BE ARRESTED immediately along with his entire team. The system needs to be completely scrubbed to find any code he added and change all access passwords. THE SERIOUSNESS OF THUS CANNOT BE OVERSTATED.
Just because you write this doesn't mean it is true. You wish it to be true, but until a court rules (and if there are court cases, I do assume it will go all the way to SCOTUS who will side with the Executive Branch because the Constitution places the bureaucracy under the Executive Branch). The optics are certainly not favorable. Telling the country that a duly elected president who campaigned on reforming the Federal bureaucracy is blocked from giving his people access to government computer systems in his own agencies that report to him.... good luck in selling that to the public.
There are ways to frame the optics to scare the crap out of the public on all sides that are truthful. This is what the democrats have been bad at. Remind them that they now have access to YOUR ssn, bank account numbers and they brought in buggy equipment. Point out how when it first started with the OPM emails, everyone got p0rn spam immediately thereafter so what are these guys going to do with YOUR bank account? The laws protecting cybersecurity and personal information were broken by teenagers, so now YOUR personal information is in the hands of other parties, like the Chinese. Like the freeze, YOUR social security check might get turned off in an instant. They overrode the procedures set up to keep YOU safe. Use the messaging skills of places like Fox, and these will still actually have facts.
