This completely screws GOP senators? What are they thinking? Do they really not care about their livelihoods? The livelihoods of their children? Truly mind boggling.
It’s not being reported on Fox News, so GOP senators are not being inundated by their Republican constituents. If a Democrat contacts them, they will just think they are paranoid.
Apparently Bessent (the new treasury secretary) approved of Musk's access to the treasury. Which is probably why they see it is legal and will be treated as legal until courts declare otherwise. I'd also like to point out that MSNBC/CNN routinely do not cover live Trump press conferences or interviews or certain topics when Trump is talking, so you can't accuse Fox for being selective without being hypocritical.
Bessent does not have the authority to give Musk access to these accounts. Musk isn’t a federal govt employee. Musk doesn’t have any clearances, much less the type of top level one necessary for this access. Trying to gain access to the Federal Treasury without Congressional Approval is committing acts against the Constitution and against the people of the U.S. Such actions and violations are punishable crimes: -Misuse of Public Funds (31 U.S. Code § 1301) -Computer Fraud and Abuse Act (CFAA) (18 U.S. Code § 1030) -Breach of National Security (18 U.S. Code § 798) -The Anti-Deficiency Act (31 U.S. Code §§ 1341-1342) MUSK MUST BE ARRESTED immediately along with his entire team. The system needs to be completely scrubbed to find any code he added and change all access passwords. THE SERIOUSNESS OF THUS CANNOT BE OVERSTATED.
I agree with you that what's happening is horrible, but Musk actually does have a top secret security clearance because of the SpaceX work.
As co-head of Doge with the biotech company founder Vivek Ramaswamy, Musk could be given access to classified information directly by the sitting president. Trump has not said publicly if he plans to do that. While “top secret” is the government’s top level of security clearance, rising above “confidential” and “secret”, it does not automatically confer special authorization access to classified programs. More than 400 SpaceX employees have permissions to access “sensitive compartmented information”, but not the company CEO, according to the outlet. A smaller number of employees have access to secrets the government deems even more sensitive called special access programs, including SpaceX’s spy satellite program, called Starshield. As it stands, Musk is not entitled to enter SpaceX facilities where such classified work is done and discussed, and is denied access to classified elements of payloads. The company recently signed a $1.8bn classified contract with the national reconnaissance office, the agency that operates spy satellites, among other, pre-existing government contracts. Above is from the Guardian in December, and he was told by Space-X lawyers not to even try getting complete access because of his drug use and contacts with foreign leaders and governments. I did just check to see if my SS retirement came through. It did, but. . .
