I’ve never seen a film version of a musical that I loved as much as the theatre version. Maybe just because there’s nothing like seeing a performance live. I’ve seen Wicked on stage 5 times! Twice in London and Toronto, once in NYC. What do fans of the musical think of the movie?
Have you read any of the replies? It’s a hit!
I haven’t seen any replies from people who have seen the musical multiple times.
I’ve seen the Musical multiple times and I wrote that it felt a bit bloated and that I feel like a number of the songs that they lengthened and added in dialogue in the middle of lost their drama and momentum, but I still overall enjoyed it. It also bothers me that they didn’t auto tune or re-record to keep everyone on pitch, something that they obviously can’t do on stage.
OK thanks. Did you love the movie as much as the theatre version? It sounds like no? If the movie version is as spectacular as the theatre version, I'd go see it on a big screen. If not then I'd wait for the Blu-ray.
I would vote 100% for seeing it on the big screen.
