There's a huge difference in immigration to the US and to Europe. People that come to the US mostly do so to become American. It's certainly not a smooth experience all the time. Look at the Irish. Or the Italians. Or the Mexicans. But generally, by the third generation their children are no different in attitudes and cultural norms than the descendants that came over on the Mayflower. Europe is different. They are distinct nation states. A Swede is a Swede. A German is a German. An Italian is an Italian. But the immigrants that have been coming over to Europe over the past 15 years - mostly Arabs and those from the Maghreb - have no interest in becoming a Swede. Or a German. Or an Italian. They are not assuming the cultural and social norms of their European countries. They are bringing Iraq or Syria to Europe. And that has led to conflict, crime, resentment and so on. And it's not changing generation to generation. Most of the young people rioting, and committing crime, and harassing and assaulting women in places like France have families that have been in France for 40/50/60 years. And Europeans are fed up. They have long felt safe in their communities. And now they don't because these immigrants are not accepting the basic cultural norms of most European countries. So they are increasingly turning to right wing anti-immigrant parties since centrists and leftists have done nothing to address their concerns.
I normally come here to troll but I have a genuine question. Do you leftists actually believe this? Are you that detached from reality?
The pp is right wing. And what they are saying is well documented. Immigrants to the US, generally speaking, want to be there and worked very hard to be there. There is a long history of successful assimilation. Social scientists have written about this for years. A left wing position would say that Americans are deeply racist and fight Immigrants and their assimilation. They would not readily admit that ethno states such as Italy or Germany have cultures that should be respected; leftists hate the west and want to stomp it out and replace it with people that are much more accustomed to centralized oligarchic tyranny.
