You really should visit if you can. They're both pedigree schools. They'll both open doors. Though if you want Wall Street, Columbia is the better option. That's not really the Rice vibe. It's a more chill atmosphere, a little nerdier. It's bright students doing their thing. STEM is probably what they are most known for, but they are solid in everything. It's a comfortable school with a residential college system, so it's easy to feel part of a community. It is a very rigorous school though. No one is gliding through Rice.

Columbia is Columbia. It's in the news 24/7 presently. Every potential student has to ask is that the environment they want to be a part of. For some it's a plus. And for some it's a huge red flag. The tensions there between protestors and Jewish students and those that just want to ignore the noise and grind are very real. You either want to be a part of the cacophony or you don't. Even in the best of circumstances, Columbia is not chill. But I think the fractures that are evident on the Columbia campus are going to be long lasting.  [/quote]
