Some of the things I memorized in fifth grade have more meaning to me now than they did then.  I am grateful for the teacher who had us memorize these poems.  It enriches your life.  Too bad you cannot appreciate this.

And, for those who question its value.  What about the nominee for federal judge who [b]could not tell the meaning of the amendments?  She would have been well served had she memorized them.[/b]  She did not even know what they stood for.
