Not one to be outdone by its neighbors, Montgomery County politicians are ready to go with their Vaccine Passport. https://bethesdamagazine.com/bethesda-beat/montgomery-county-hopes-to-follow-d-c-with-vaccine-passport/ Looks like I’m heading to Frederick for shopping and restaurants. What is wrong with our politicians?
Drunk on power
That article is nearly a month old. I highly doubt a vaccine passport will pass.
Was in the news yesterday. Very much still under consideration and very likely to pass, IMO. Though, I am opposed. https://www.wusa9.com/article/news/local/maryland/montgomery-county-council-torn-on-whether-to-mandate-proof-of-vaccine/65-9f809bcf-c476-4fa0-b4d7-126398a6cc7a
Business owners aren't behind the mandate because it isn't regional and patrons won't have to travel far to avoid it. The council also plans to have community input and we all know how that will go. As it is proposed, the mandate will not pass.
You would think! But how did it manage to pass in DC? There was an info meeting about the DC vaccine passport yesterday. They said it’ll continue even when the weather warms up. And that businesses have to check for the card every time a person enters (versus just allowing some ‘regulars’ to show the card once and move on).
So I can ask my server to show me his vax card every time he comes to our table?
No. You can show yours or leave, as you won’t be getting served any food. Simple.
All businesses - not just restaurants - are covered in the Montgomery County proposal. They plan to check your Passport at the door (you and your children). No passport? NO ENTRY.
Grocery stores?
That is not accurate this mandate only really applies specifically to bars, restaurants, movie theatres, and gyms mostly. They do leave it kind of open ended in terms of the councils ability to extend the mandate to facilities they deem necessary. Exempted are "essential" businesses (that would include grocery stores). Laughably, they do not extend the mandate to "big box stores" - just another indication of how much of a farce this authoritarian overreach is. Coronavirus is allergic to Home Depot apparently.
That’s how is was early on! Two years ago, when this mess started. Big box stores stayed open because they were ‘essential’ but many small businesses were forced to close. It was a joke back then an this mandate is a joke now. Definite overreach and it shows no sign of slowing.
