I don't consider it evil. But even the basic functions can have dark repercussions for adolescents with no filter and no inhibitions. Their parents bought them their phones, watches, and laptops - so its partly on parental guidance.

The only way I see it solved is metal detectors, secured locker rooms, and bag searches every morning at every school. No phones allowed on campus at all. But then you'd have to devote a lot more money to SROs, security officers, and teachers aides to ensure student safety without a communication device on hand. Plus free public phones in every hallway if the student needs to call home.[/quote]
