The PP who talks about propaganda is just so wrong. I am also from one of the former communist countries (like the two PPs above me) and I don’t consume any conservative news. But it’s enough for me to listen to NPR to have a perfect deja vu. One is supposed to follow the party line, and god forbid they disagree or just have a shadow of a doubt. It’s not the right wing press that writes about cancellations! Then, there are certain minorities who are preferred to other minorities. It reminds me of how back in the day one had to be of “worker or peasant descent” to be eligible for things. Trust me we have seen it all. We don’t need propaganda to see where all this is going.
The propaganda is not fed to you through conservative TV it’s fed to you through TV in the language of your country of origin.
I am one of the EE PPs and I don’t watch or read news sources from my country of origin nor do I watch fox or newsmax or breitbart. I don’t watch any news but I read plenty, mainly NY Times and WaPo but a bunch of others most of which are either left or center-left. About the only publication I regularly read that wouldn’t qualify for that label is The Economist. And yet somehow I am still not a Democrat! I know it’s hard to believe but people can come to different conclusions than you without being brainwashed. Shocking!
Okay define the major tenets of conservative a Republican vs alt right vs Tea party. Which are you?
Wikipedia is right there, you can look it up for yourself. Moreover, you are not my teacher giving me a quiz for credit and I am not obligated to prove my bona fides to you. And that is why I tend not to discuss politics even in as cursory a fashion as I’ve done on this thread - any time you do so, people try to either prove to you how misguided you are or want to have a pointless time of a feedback loop of agreement. FWIW I am largely a libertarian politically. Republicans bother me less than Democrats.
PP and before you come back with your “but Trumpppppp” complaints, I loathe the man and did not vote for him. Nonetheless, between the two main parties, I skew Republican. If you are looking to convert or convince any of the former communist country posters by your tirades, I am afraid you will be disappointed. I’ve been harangued about the glories of one true path so many times in my former country, it really doesn’t stick any more.
The bolded is where you stop making sense. Only the Republicans think there is one true path. The Democrats are for "all in this together, don't suppress other peoples rights" -- and before you say it, they people they fight against are the ones trying suppress others' rights so they can to keep their one way of being the only way allowed in this country. Its really obvious.
What are you talking about? Democrats are very much into virtue signaling and cancel culture.
