The only people who say this are those whose kids are not fast swimmers or don’t do it as one of their main sports. You would never say the same about the sport your kid actually cares about/has talent in. [/quote]

We care, but we will not compete in any competitions at least till next year.  It is my child's main sport and they aren't fast but enjoy it.  The competitive parents like this one take a lot of the fun out of it.[/quote]

New poster- the person who said the only ones who care are the ones going for all stars or pool records their parents. Not necessarily...I’m a rep and we see the following kids care:

- club swimmers
- those that want to be on a relay
- those that really care about best times
 - those that want to go to divisionals
- those that want to be the best at a stroke (ie they ate best in free at time trials, get beat at the first B meet, and want to really try and put effort in to gain the top seeded spot on the team again)

Lots and lots of kids care about summer swim, even if records won’t be broken and all stars ain’t happening. [/quote]
