Unless it’s from a top school and someone is incredibly entrepreneurial with their own research and writing skills, it is often a perpetually under-employed, low-paid person who didn’t know what to do career-wise who ends up moving from adjunct to adjunct or finally in a job that didn’t need the PhD to begin with.
