What I find so insane about this thread is that there are legitimate valid criticisms you can make of Taylor and Travis. But the haters here are so bizarre. Trying to insult Taylor by saying she is 36 and “old.” Firstly, in no culture or language or even biologically a 36 year old human is considered old. She is in the absolute prime of her life! Secondly, do we want to discuss the implications of using age as an insult?? Excuse me? Why and how is being old an insulting form of existing as a human? It is so twisted.
Firstly, you are correct that she isn’t old, only a young middle aged, but you are also leaving the context of her fan base which was tween and teen girls and their moms during the eras tour. The songs she writes are self-admittedly about teens and the way teenager emotions are out of control. She has said this a at some point, yes, as you age, you should process things better than teens and as a songwriter she should be able to write songs that are more mature than teenage emotions or reflections of those emotions. She isn’t doing that, so she is aging out of her current craft. Secondly, You are excused.
NP but I think her emotional maturity is forever stunted to what it was during that first meteoric rise to fame. There’s been no processing or maturing or introspecting or developing the way normal people living normal lives get to do. Her life instead has since then been about performing, PR machines, alienation from regular society, no chance for organic human relationships, since everyone around her is either a fan, an employee, or a stakeholder. She can’t even have normal daily interactions with people because of her fame, security detail, fans surrounding her, paparazzi etc. Normal people layer hundreds upon thousands of these interactions, experiences, and relationships, in order to figure out how to move within society. No wonder she can’t grow or learn!
