Beshear/Warnock is my dream ticket
Boring white male, religious black Democrat Both from the South, both are fairly moderate. Both could appeal to key Democratic constituents and Independents
I think a lot of people are going to have a strong desire for normalcy after 10+ years of political chaos. I have noticed that Beshear has been mostly been staying out of the way of national politics. (Unlike pritzker). This will probably be to his benefit when the time comes. People are going to want to shut the door on this era, and probably act like it never happened.
While I think that is true (people want normalcy) I also think we have real problems in our country (high and rising healthcare costs, AI without regulation, price setting in certain markets, waste and fraud and unnecessary wars in the DoW leading to a huge budget deficit, etc). So although “normalcy” may work for the next election cycle, to avoid another round of crazy we need someone who can not only steady the ship but drive it to a better place and that will take some bold, out of the box, action. I don’t know too much about Beshear but if he’s willing to take a non partisan approach to problem solving (like admitting Obamacare’s approach of expanding coverage has not let to lower prices or even average out of pocket costs) then I’m quite interested. & The whole pronoun thing is silly - all a candidate should say is “I believe in being kind to people. If someone wants me to call them “they” that’s an easy way to show kindness and does not take anything away from my ability to be there for you”. If pressed on bathrooms and sports: “it’s a local community decision. Big government should stay out.”
