Isn't he back home
No, cutie, he isn't.
DP. Yes he is. He is a citizen of El Salvador, currently residing in…… wait for it…. El Salvador.
He is in a prison (he has never been charged or convicted of anything, here or there) for terrorists in a country that persecuted him so much that he was granted withholding from removal there and the only reason that he did not receive asylum here was because he filed too late. He had a credible fear then of gangs, which maybe now has been resolved. Now he has a new credible fear. He is not home.
His government can simply release him from jail then. Wonder why they haven’t?
Because trump is paying them to keep him in jail
Trump is paying them to keep their own citizen in jail? We have that power? Under what authority?
None at all. Yet that is exactly what he’s doing.
If El Salvador wanted their citizen out of a jail in…. El Salvador, they can simply release him.
El Salvador didn't put him or the Venezuelans in prison. They just took whoever we gave them and locked them up. Y'all think you're cute but you're not.
As triggered as I have by with the sophomoric comebacks (my favorite: we can't just "grab" someone in another country, how would you like it someone came and "grabbed your mother?), we need to ignore the trolls who are trying to distract us and just talk about the facts: Trump has a deal, for which he is paying dearly: *$6 million dollars per year for imprisoning whomever we want without due process. Many of the recently deported Venezuelans have no criminal record, were here legally, and were awaiting asylum. They have tattoos - that is it. *The US has handed back a couple dozen actual MS-13 members, including one of the tippety top leaders (César Humberto López Larios), waiving his indictment in the US to send him back. This is a man the US has worked to capture, build a case against, and have extradited to the US for years. Make no mistake about this: Sending Lopez Larios to El Salvador benefits Bukele and Bukele only. Why? It is widely known, though categorically denied by Bukele, that Bukele cut deals with the Salvadoran gangs. In US custody these MS-13 leaders were likely or at least able to talk and destroy his narrative. No longer. Trump made a deal with Bukele. We should all assume that part of the deal was being able to get anyone he wants back. If he didn't include any such provision in the deal, then he is a really pathetic deal maker. I mean, really??
