Does probationary mean those under disciplinary action or performance improvement plans in private sector?
THIS is what most americans think when they hear feds on probation which is WHY they dont care.
Yeah I wish they’d say something more like “in their trial period” or “newer hires” so as not to imply any issue with performance. Though we had people who had been at my agency for right under 2 years who were fired— obviously they weren’t really new; attorneys just have longer trial periods.
My husband is probationary at DOD for 2 years. Hes been a fed for 7 years total but transferred agencies. We are waiting for the shoe to drop. My Dad- a Trumper- was basically like well he does a good job right? then he wont get fired and I was like thats not how this is working. Probationary doesnt mean they suck it means they are new and dont have protections. He just doesnt believe that people who are good workers are getting fired even with me telling him thats the case.... He also thinks that Trump dissolving the DoEd will increase teacher salaries. So yes, its a brainwashed cult. FYI my dad has absolutely no government experience and my job is funded by healthcare and IT contracts so I am also likely getting canned this year. His response was that I am smart and will be able to find a job quickly because the economy is booming because Trump is in the WH. Or that we should move to NC so I can be a teacher there because salaries are going to increase and ill get summers off.
