DP. I’m very much pro choice and actually donate money to Planned Parenthood. What does that have to do with anything. I too say why cannot Mexico absorb some of these migrants. Why are people flying into Mexico from China, Bangledash,  Nigeria, Ukraine, Hungary, etcetera, etcetera and crossing the southern border hands up. Why not stay in Mexico if they are true asylum seekers. [/quote]

Because the USA has made legal immigration, especially initiated outside the United States, as well as immigration by air or by sea nearly impossible, or decades long and incredibly expensive and difficult.  Those citizens of countries clearly qualifying for asylum under the imminent threat (Afghani US military allies leading up to the total collapse, and Ukrainians mass exodus at the outset of Russia’s bombings as examples) were enduring extremely lengthy legal processes leading only to small numbers of admissions, if not denied, or abandoned.  Same for Haiti.  Unaccompanied minors (even very young) send back to Haiti  unceremoniously daily - no rights if you arrive on a boat.   But walk across by land and you will be processed inside the U.S.  starting your new life immediately.  Potential immigrants know these discrepancies nowadays so I’m not surprised at all citizens from around the world are showing up at the land border.   [/quote]
