No that’s how it used to be. Now they realize you can game the system. So many have kids born here so they are US citizens and get benefits for them. In some states they get free health care even if you are illegal.

And the current wave of immigrants are not illegal. The vast majority are applying for asylum so they don’t stay in the shadows because they don’t need to. They are clamoring fir resources and help. Look at New York City and Chicago.

Biden repealed Trumps public charge rules that he was enforcing. You aren’t supposed to be able to immigrate if you are going to be a public charge and cost the US money. The sponsor is supposed to pay.

And if you are going to complain about chain migration, let's start with Melania's parents.

She came here illegally, used false information, snagged a husband, had an anchor baby and then chain migrated her parents.
