That's an application that's really going to stand out[/quote] Applications are due in fall, at that point it will literally just be one more summer on the farm, it will not boost his chances. It's not novel, it was already on the prior application. OP, I think your best way forward is to consult with a hired 3rd party re: how to maximize his admission odds. Going where he has an option and trying to transfer means he will not be shut out. Are all of his friends going to college in the fall or are some of them talking about gap years too? I think if they are all moving forward on a college track it will have a huge psychological impact in the fall. Even if he is cocooned on the family farm. He will fall out of step and it will impact those relationships. [/quote]
