Here is a Lucy Calkins “Kindergarten Sampler” that goes into great detail about writing a personal narrative and other written stories. Not sure why the other PPs are so incredulous and skeptical. There is a ton of documentation about this. It’s definitely a common project. https://www.heinemann.com/shared/marketingcontent/calkins-samplers/calkinssamp_gr0kfinal2.pdf
Has nothing to do with decision making surrounding red-shirting. Start your own thread instead of hijacking this one. There is already a Lucy Calkins one.
It is hard evidence that the anti-redshirters who are screaming about how the PP must have made up the story about the personal narrative in kindergarten are, per usual, ill-informed.
You are ill-informed. I am a para-teacher for grades k-2 and never have my kindergartners been asked to write a personal narrative. You’re issue is with schools that use the LC curicullum which is not the vast majority of kindergarten schools across the country.
Well, then you can provide hard evidence in the form of your own links. But the assertion was made that the PP was lying about the writing requirements in her child’s kindergarten (I believe the exact phrase was “Didn’t happen”), and as it turns out there is plenty of impartial evidence that she was not lying at all. Sorry evidence-based statements bother you so much.
Sorry personal narratives are not being assigned to kindergartners. Seemingly, you are disappointed and bothered by that.
Sorry you can’t provide any evidence to back your (flatly absurd) statement up.
No one needs to provide any evidence to back that their school is not assigning personal narratives. You’re emotionally unbalanced.
