Candidates spend money on yard signs for a reason. Among other things, they serve as a reminder to come out and vote. Not all voters go straight party line and name recognition is important. Some want to feel validated that they’re voting for the person likely to win, and signs reinforce the perceived popularity of a candidate. There is a psychology to this which professional campaign managers adhere to. [/quote]
