I'm tired of misplaced accountability. I think Love's murder was horrific. I think it's clear that GH was to blame for her death. Why on earth are PPs making the leap that the sport/University is to blame? I have not read anything in this trial that reminds me of the Paterno case. If the coach knew that GH was violent to YL or harassing her and did nothing - that is another story. I certainly drank when I was at UVA, as did most of my friends. "Binge drinking" is not unique to lacrosse players OR to UVA. Please. That is just silly. Would the violence have happened if GH was sober? Possibly not. Does that mean that "alcohol" is to blame? Absolutely not. GH has a pattern of violent/abusive behavior. GH is to blame. Stop playing Nancy Grace. It's poor logic and sensationalist.
It was to no one's advantage to bring up the coach's knowledge/inaction during the trial that's why nothing reminds you of the Paterno case. But there's no doubt that the coach knew GHV was a violent drunk. GH has a prior arrest record while at UVa. He punch another player while the player was sleeping and even punch a female police officer! The coach knew GHV was a drunken bully and did nothing. The university did nothing (likely b/c the coach didn't report the incidents). What, UVa was state champs again last year? Awesome.
Huguely was basically a bench warmer on the UVA lax team -- their championship hopes didn't come close to riding on him. Surprised the coaches put up with any of it.
Looks like he'll be riding the pines in the Sate of Virginia Penal League
