It is laughable how you call Russian mail order brides "Barbie Dolls". Don't underestimate these women. Russians (both women and men) are highly intelligent, opinionated, they tend to take lead in a family. They come from highly militarized ancestry, very stubborn and would fight back for their interests. A "submissive" Russian wife is a legend. And in many cases these "brides" have better education, better life coping skills than their US husbands. I would rather predict that an Eastern European wife would soon become bored with her American husbands' conservative antiques and with his Midwest relatives. All these TV shows, football nights will not sit well with a woman from St Petersburg or Moscow who covered Tolstoy and Dostoevsky in one year in high school. These marriages when there is an educational and social gap between "rich" husband and his foreign wife will last only until she obtained her own economic freedom. 
The marriages between equals (similar educational background) usually last and are happy. Men do appreciate Eastern European good looks combined with  high earning capacity of their wives. [/quote]
