What the Sandusky travesty did was shine a light on some of Paterno's actions that included shielding his drunken football players from state police and university discipline and review. The local police would call Paterno at home and tell him they picked up a couple football players. Then Paterno would dole out his own punishment as he saw fit. Paterno also prohibited the school from implementing its review and discipline. Sure, it may happen at EVERY school. Just means there's more work to do to address it. The public/media did UVa no justice by looking the other way when it came to UVa lacrosse. [/quote]
