While Charlie Baker is a republican governor, Massachusetts has a super-majority in both houses of the legislature and they can enact appointment rules including requiring the governor to replace an outgoing Senator with a candidate from the same political party. This is the most likely case if they need to replace Elizabeth Warren. Likewise, VP-elect Harris' position will be safe as Gavin Newsom is a Democrat and one only has to look at his ex-wife to know that he absolutely knows the danger of picking a Republican.[/quote]
